The present invention relates to a method for saving power in a passive optical network (PON) system composed of an optical line terminal (OLT) and a plurality of optical network units (ONU). Provided is the OLT which includes an optical transceiver which communicates with at least one ONU through an optical line and a control unit which controls to transmit an upstream bandwidth map to the ONU with a preset transmission period through the optical transceiver. The transmission period is determined based on a desired upstream data service delay time. |
