883,931. Coated paper. MEAD CORPORATION. Feb. 29, 1960 [March 10, 1959], No. 7047/60. Drawings to Specification. Class 96. A cast coating is secured to a paper base by a thermoplastic adhesive layer. The coating is preferably formed on a casting roller and dried and then attached to the base by the adhesive. The adhesive may be applied to the cast coating on the roller or to the paper or may be applied between the two as they are rolled in contact either in the form of a liquid or of a pre-formed film. The paper base may be held in contact with an arc of the casting roller by spaced rollers which may carry an endless pressure band between them. Polyvinyl acetate and polyethylene are suitable adhesive materials. Examples of coating compositions are given. A wide range of papers may be coated. |
