<p>The present invention relates to a composition including Otx2 protein as an active ingredient for preventing and treating mitochondria dysfunction diseases. In particular, a single defect of the Otx2 gene reduces the visual function and electroretinogram (ERG) reaction, causes degeneration and decline of development of a cone photoreceptor and bipolar cells, and causes serious degeneration of type-II off-cone bipolar cells in particular. Also, the composition including Otx2 protein as an active ingredient of the present invention is confirmed to be usefully used for preventing and treating mitochondria dysfunction diseases by confirming that the Otx2 protein injected into an eyeball of Otx2 anisogamy mutant mouse passes through retinal nerve cells and significantly controls the activity of mitochondria.</p> |
