PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rope type elevator which can notify a user who uses an elevator during normal operation that a hoist brake is in a braking state.SOLUTION: A rope type elevator is provided with: a control state judgment part 21 which determines whether a current control state, which is made by an elevator control device 20 with respect to a hoist brake 10, is a state in which the hoist brake 10 is released or not; a brake state judgment part 22 which determines whether a release state of the hoist brake 10 is detected by brake detectors 31A, 31B or not; and a display control part 24 which controls a display unit 40. In only the case that it is judged that a current control state of the hoist brake 10 is not a state in which the hoist brake 10 is controlled in a release state and a release state of the hoist brake 10 is not a state which is not detected by the brake detectors 31A, 31B, the display control part 24 so controls the display unit 40 as to display that the hoist brake 10 is in a braking state. |
