PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toner that is excellent in any of the charge amount, image density, and amount of scattering toner.SOLUTION: A toner includes toner particles 10 each having a shell layer 12 with a thickness of 5 nm or more, which satisfies the condition of a ratio of the intensity INc to the intensity INs of 0.2 or less, present on 80% or more of the circumference of the cross section, in a proportion of 80 number% or more. The toner includes the toner particles 10 each having the shell layer 12 with a thickness of 5 nm or more, which satisfies the condition of a ratio of the intensity ISc to the intensity ISs of 0.2 or less, present on 80% or more of the circumference of the cross section, in a proportion of 80 number% or more. The intensity INs indicates the EELS intensity of an N-K shell absorption end derived from a nitrogen element included in the shell layer 12. The intensity INc indicates the EELS intensity of the N-K shell absorption end derived from a nitrogen element included in a core 11. The intensity ISs indicates the EELS intensity of an S-K shell absorption end derived from a sulfur element included in the shell layer 12.
