PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent reduction in operability even if a user does not look at a touch panel surface when a part of a touch panel is used as a touch pad.SOLUTION: An information processing apparatus includes: touch panel control means which controls a virtual touch pad to be displayed in a first area which is a part of the whole display area of a touch panel; pointer operation input receiving means which receives user operation input to the first area as a pointer operation input; and pointer display control means which controls a pointer to be displayed on a display screen of an external display, on the basis of the pointer operation input. The touch panel control means controls the first area to move so as to include an end point when the user operation input is a stroke and a start point of the stroke is included in the first area and the end point is beyond the first area.
