PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seal member in which fray generation at an end part of the seal member due to vibration and wear can be prevented or suppressed and which has high sealing performance and endurance.SOLUTION: A seal member comprises a catalyst-carrying seal member 2 in which catalyst layers are provided on both front and rear surfaces of a first plate member made of glass fibers and no-catalyst-carrying seal member 3, 4 made of glass fibers which are adhered so as to cover each of the catalyst layers and are bonded and fixed. The no-catalyst-carrying seal members 3, 4 have dimensional shapes larger than that of the catalyst-carrying seal member 2, and a sewing part 5 composed by superimposing, on each other, folding parts 3b, 4b where end parts 3a, 4a of the no-catalyst-carrying seal member 3, 4 are folded inside is sewed in plural rows over the whole periphery with heat proof thread 6. |
