Disclosed are a food garbage collection device, a control method thereof, a recording medium for performing the method. The control method is provided to check the position of settling of a collection bin inside the food garbage collection device. The control method comprises the steps of: receiving the standard information of the collection bin when the collection bin is initially mounted on the food garbage collection device; detecting the previously determined distance scope for the position where the collection bin is settled; detecting the distance between the collection bin and a position sensor by using the position sensor placed inside the food garbage collection device; checking whether the detected distance is within the previous determined distance scope; outputting a warning signal if the measured distance is not within the previously determined distance scope; redetecting the distance between the collection bin and the position sensor when the door of the food garbage collection device is opened or closed or an impact given to the food garbage collection device is detected; and outputting a warning signal if the redetected distance is not within the previously determined distance scope. |
