PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning device capable of effectively suppressing the leakage of toner from a gap between a seal member and an image carrier by suppressing the accumulation of the toner on the seal member and to provide an image forming apparatus including the cleaning device.SOLUTION: The cleaning device includes a housing, a cleaning member, a cleaning blade, a recovery member, the seal member, and a protective member. The housing is arranged above the image carrier and an opening is formed on the surface opposite to the image carrier of the housing. The cleaning member is rotated in the same direction in a contact surface with the image carrier, while in contact with the surface of the image carrier, to remove residual toner adhering on the image carrier to the rotation-direction downstream side of the image carrier. The seal member is disposed at the opening edge on the upstream side of the housing in the rotational direction of the image carrier, to prevent the leakage of waste toner from the gap between the housing and the image carrier. The protective member is arranged above the seal member with a space and coming into contact with the cleaning member. |
