PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem in ultrasonic-welding of an aluminum wire to a terminal, in which ultrasonic welding causes thinning of the wire even when the ultrasonic welding is performed to the terminal after removing an insulating coating from the aluminum wire or damaging the insulating coating, resulting in low bonding strength and low reliability in ultrasonic welding of a thin aluminum wire.SOLUTION: After pressure is applied to an aluminum wire 1 and a terminal 4 by a chip 6 to fix the aluminum wire 1 to a bumped and recessed part of the terminal 4 in the caulked manner, the terminal 4 is further pressurized by the chip 6 while the chip 6 is vibrated by a drive part. Thereby a part of an insulating coating 3 where the terminal 4 and the aluminum wire 1 are in contact physically generates a defect in the insulating coating 3. The defect of the insulating coating 3 acts as an initial point to generate an intermetallic compound between an aluminum conductor 2 and the terminal 4, thus providing ultrasonic bonding with high reliability.
