PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power saving control method for a communication apparatus capable of enhancing power saving effect, and the communication apparatus.SOLUTION: A power saving control method for a communication apparatus includes: a control message creation and transmission procedure that at least one of an ONU and HGW transmits a control message including quiescent time created on the basis of predetermined information to the other; a transmission stop procedure that the ONU and HGW receiving the control message stop frame transmission between them during the quiescent time; and a power supply control procedure that the ONU and HGW receiving the control message autonomously determine power supply limitation to part of components of the own communication apparatus on the basis of time when the control message is received and the quiescent time.
