摘要 The present invention relates to an idler applied to a caterpillar serving to induce a track moving direction and adjust tension of a chain as being installed in a yoke connected by a frame, and located in the front of a track chain among lower part driving devices of a caterpillar vehicle (dozer, excavator, etc.). Moreover, the present invention provides a method for manufacturing a forging idler by hot die forging with excellent mechanical properties by sufficiently considering characteristics of a component worn due to friction with a track chain by receiving impact with irregularities when being driven with body weight. Therefore, the present invention has effects of reducing the production time, reducing material costs, implementing mass production, providing uniform hardness, and infinitely using by simplifying a process and improving the quality of a product, and expecting formability improvement and failure rates reduction. The method for manufacturing an idler applied to a caterpillar capable of forming a supporting arm outside a shaft supporting part having a shaft combining hole, and having a ring part with a track guide protrusion in the outer peripheral edge outside the supporting arm comprises: a step of cutting a circular rod; a step of heating the cut circular rod; a step of increasing a diameter while the heated circular rod is inserted into a mold; a step of forging a material by inserting the material into the mold; a trimming step of removing a burr from a semi-product forged; a step of cooling the trimmed semi-product; a step of machining a ring part and a shaft combining hole in the cooled semi-product; and a step of high frequency heat-treating the surface of the ring part.
