[Also in Division E1] The digging edge or lip 15 of a rope-reciprocated scraper shovel is higher than the floor 13 of the shovel when the shovel is on an even keel. Various described arrangements of groundengaging rollers, skids or wheels 26, 26a are secured to the lower central portion of the shovel to facilitate passage of the shovel over the ground. Haulage cable-actuated front and rear closure doors 30, 38 are provided. Ejection of the contents of the shovel may be caused by either horns 46 or blocks 44 engaging a fixed abutment disposed in the path of movement of the shovel. |
