PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an extended display use environment with comfortable operation.SOLUTION: An information processing apparatus includes: a touch panel which displays a virtual touch pad in a first area which is a part of the whole display area; start determination means which starts an application relating to an icon which is displayed in a display area of the touch panel to execute predetermined processing of an application associated in advance when the icon is dragged and dropped in the first area by a predetermined operation, and displays a display screen of the application on an external display; pointer display control means which controls a pointer to be displayed on a display screen of the external display; and pointer operation input receiving means which receives user operation input to the first area as an operation input of the pointer. The pointer display control means controls display of the pointer on the basis of the operation input of the pointer.
