PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low refractive index film and a production method of the film which has excellent adhesiveness to a solid substrate, follows the fine structure of a solid substrate having a fine structure, and shows no decrease in geometric optical performance such as diffusion property and condensing property resulting from the fine structure.SOLUTION: The low refractive index film is obtained by alternately adsorbing an electrolytic polymer and fine particles to a surface of a solid substrate having a fine structure on the surface to form a particulate laminate film, and alternately bringing a polycationic solution and a silicon compound solution into contact with the particulate laminate film so as to form bonds between the solid substrate and particles and among the fine particles. The silicon compound solution contains a water-soluble silicate represented by general formula MO-nSiO, where n is 2 to 8 and M represents an alkaline metal of Li, Na or K. |
