PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive wear-resistant iron-based sintered metal which consists alone of upper bentonite being free of hard particles and increased in density of carbide, can be suppressed in hardness, is excellent in machinability in processing into a valve sheet and can thereby suppress reduction of the tool life, and allows high work-hardening to impart stable wear resistance when used as a valve seat.SOLUTION: A wear-resistant iron-based sintered metal contains, by mass ratio, 0.02-2.0% Mo and 0.2-1.2% C, its metal structure consists of upper bentonite alone; and its initial hardness is 120-400 Hv. |
