摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To more accurately and easily measure circular dichroism of a sample.SOLUTION: Artifact components included in conventional circular dichroism measurement results are removed by obtaining a matrix element S02 and a matrix element S20 of a Mueller matrix then calculating circular dichroism based on the obtained matrix elements. The circular dichroism therefore can be measured more accurately by measuring the matrix element S02 and matrix element S20 using an apparatus 1 for measuring circular dichroism and by calculating the circular dichroism using the measurement result. Also, an expensive rotary stage for rotating optical elements are not required since a light source 10, and a first polarizing plate 22 and a second polarizing plate 24 for extracting linearly polarized light from light from the light source, are optically arranged in such a way that relative angles therebetween do not change. Furthermore, the above mentioned configuration materializes a measurement method that is not affected by the presence of horizontal and vertical polarization components in the light from the light source even if the components are present, so that the circular dichroism can be more accurately measured.</p>
