PLUG AND PLAY SENSOR NETWORK SYSTEM USING PEER-TO-PEER COMMUNICATION AND METHOD FOR PROVIDING APPLICATION SERVICE USING THE SYSTEM

The present invention is related to a peer-to-peer (P2P) plug-and-play sensor network system and a method for providing application services using the system. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the sensor network system includes the following components: sensor nodes which collect sensing data on articles or the environment and transmit the sensing data to devices upon request; and a smart device available for P2P communications with the sensor nodes which collects information on the sensor nodes when the sensor nodes are detected, adds virtual sensor nodes internally, approaches the sensor nodes through the virtual sensor nodes by mapping between the sensor nodes and the virtual sensor nodes. According to an embodiment of the present invention, a Bluetooth-enabled smart device can be linked to the sensor nodes supporting IEEE 802.15.4-based communications including ZigBee by way of a P2P dongle or an embedded IEEE 802.15.4 communications module. In this case, the sensor nodes can be added or removed as the sensor nodes are easily linked with the smart device through a plug-and-play connection.
