PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power-assisted bicycle equipped with a lock mechanism capable of: performing a key operation smoothly without obstructing the pedaling; and preventing an unintended disengagement of a battery box.SOLUTION: In a power-assisted bicycle having a battery box 1 removably mounted between a standing pipe 10 and a rear wheel 15, a key insertion port 5A of a key 32 for locking/unlocking operations in a lock mechanism 4 to retain the battery box 1 in a bicycle body is arranged on the left-hand side in the vehicle width direction of the standing pipe 10 and upward, so that most a rider can ride and fall from the left-hand side of the bicycle body without changing the visual line before getting-on the bicycle and after getting-off the bicycle and can visually confirm the key insertion port 5A of the lock mechanism 4 easily and can be prepared for the key operations for opening and closing the battery box 1 at all times. The rider can insert the key 32 promptly downward along the standing pipe 10 into the key insertion port 5A which can be visually confirmed easily from the getting-off standing position. |
