PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data reader and an information processing device that enable a user to appropriately handle a recording medium while keeping an eye on an image display unit.SOLUTION: A card reader (data reader) 2 displays, on an image display unit 1, an image representing a prescribed part on a display surface of a display panel 12 as a place where a non-contact IC card (recording medium) should be placed. An antenna 31 for communicating with the non-contact IC card is arranged at a rear side of the prescribed part on a rear surface of the display panel 12. When a user places the non-contact IC card at the prescribed part on the display surface represented by the image, the card reader 2 reads data from the non-contact IC card via a radio wave using the antenna 31 in a non-contact manner. The user can visibly recognize the place where the recording medium should be placed while keeping an eye on the display surface of the card reader 2, and allows data to be read by placing the recording medium at an appropriate position. |
