The purpose of the present invention is to provide; a phycocyanobilin derivative having an activity of increasing the amount of collagen; and a method for producing the phycocyanobilin derivative. A novel phycocyanobilin derivative having a collagen-producing activity is represented by formula (1), and can be produced by adding water to a powder of a blue-green alga to prepare a suspension, then adding rice bran to the suspension, and then adding Bacillus subtilis var. natto and Monascus purpureus to the resultant mixture to cause the fermentation of the mixture.
