An in vitro method for detecting the occurrence of Myotonic Dystrophy type (DM1) disease in an individual, comprising the steps of: a) providing a blood sample from said individual, b) measuring an amount of Aβpeptide within said blood sample, c) comparing the amount measured at step b) with a reference value, d) determining the occurrence of DM1 in said individual from the comparison performed at step c).
