<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting method capable of minimizing damage on a sheet-like member such as a holding seal material or a foamable buffer material, a mat cut by the cutting method, and an exhaust gas purification device using the mat.SOLUTION: A cutting method for a sheet-like member includes: a notching process for forming a plurality of linear notch sections parallel to a moving direction of the sheet-like member in the sheet-like member having a prescribed width on the upstream side of a belt conveyor using a plurality of notching members disposed along a direction perpendicular to the moving direction of the sheet-like member; a cutting process for cutting the sheet-like member in a direction substantially perpendicular to the moving direction of the sheet-like member using a cutting member disposed on the downstream side of the notching members after the notching process; and a separation process for separating the sheet-like member with the notching sections as boundaries so as to make a mat having a substantially rectangular shape in a planar view after the cutting process.</p> |
