摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a substrate comprising a thin sheet such as a glass, a glass ceramic or a ceramic and having increased edge strength, and to provide a method of producing the same.SOLUTION: A sheet 100 is provided which comprises at least one of a glass, a ceramic, or a glass ceramic and has thickness of 0.63 mm or lower, wherein the sheet has: first and second surfaces 102 and 104 substantially parallel to each other; and at least two parallel high strength edges 110 provided between the first and the second surfaces 102 and 104, the strength edges being obtained through overall thickness laser cutting. An edge coating 120 is conducted with a polymeric material covering at least a portion of each of the high strength edges 110 to protect the high strength edges 110 from the occurrence of defects and damage to the edges. Each of the two parallel high strength edges 110 has a bend strength that is capable of less than about 2% failure probability at a stress level of 200 MPa over a test length of 50 mm.
