PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a treatment of addictions and primary impulse-control disorders using PDE7 inhibitors.SOLUTION: This disclosure is directed to treatment of addictions and primary impulse-control disorders using phosphodiesterase 7 (PDE7) inhibitors, alone or in combination with other therapeutic agents. The present invention provides a method of treating or preventing an addiction by determining that a subject has an addiction or is at risk of developing an addiction and then administering an inhibitor of a phosphodiesterase 7 (PDE7) effective to the subject for the treatment or prevention of the addiction. In one aspect of the invention, the subject is addicted to an addictive agent.
