<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radioactive waste disposal facility and a construction method of it that enable manual building work of an artificial barrier (buffer material) in a disposal tunnel before a waste body is fixed in the disposal tunnel.SOLUTION: In the radioactive waste disposal facility, radioactive waste is disposed as a waste body 1 in a bedrock 5 (stratum), which is a natural barrier. The radioactive waste disposal facility includes: a disposal tunnel 2 that is built in the bedrock 5 and includes an artificial barrier using a buffer material 21 around the fixed waste body 1; a work tunnel 3 built in the bedrock 5 separately from the disposal tunnel 2 by a predetermined interval; and waste body fixation holes 4 that are built in the bedrock 5 in a connecting manner between the work tunnel 3 and the disposal tunnel 2, are used for fixing the waste body 1 from the work tunnel 3 to the disposal tunnel 2, and then are buried with a backfill material 41.</p> |
