<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing a porous electrode substrate which has gas diffusibility and conductivity sufficient for use as a gas diffusion electrode substrate of a solid polymer type fuel battery and is excellent in production cost reducibility.SOLUTION: A method of producing a porous electrode substrate is based on carbonizing porous electrode substrate precursor sheets piled by passing them through a furnace with an inert atmosphere of higher than 600°C. End parts of the piled porous electrode substrate precursor sheets on one or both ends in the width direction are preferably joined integrally. The method preferably has a step (2) of cutting off the integrally joined end parts of the porous electrode substrates obtained by carbonization of the porous electrode substrate precursor sheets, after the carbonization by passing the piled porous electrode substrate precursor sheets through the furnace with an inert atmosphere of higher than 600°C.</p> |
