A method and device for downloading data. The method is applied to a mobile terminal and comprises the steps of: judging whether a current parameter of a mobile terminal satisfies a preset first parameter condition, wherein the first parameter condition is used for representing a parameter condition which is required to be satisfied when data is downloaded through a wireless local area network; and if the current parameter of the mobile terminal satisfies the first parameter condition, detecting whether the mobile terminal is already connected to an available wireless local area network; if it is detected that the mobile terminal is already connected to the available wireless local area network, acquiring data information about data to be downloaded; and according to the data information, downloading the data to be downloaded through the wireless local area network. The application of the method facilitates a user in downloading data.
