PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer for forming a protective layer pattern of an excellent appearance without changing an input energy.SOLUTION: A printer comprises printing means for transferring a transparent protective material by an energy according to the gradation of the pixels of the image data of a protective layer pattern image after the transfer of the ink of each color, thereby to form a protective layer pattern image. The image data of the protective layer pattern image are composed of a plurality of high-gradation ranges for forming a mat face and a low-gradation range for forming a glossy surface. The high-gradation range occupies 30 to 40% at an area ratio in the image data of the protective layer pattern image, and the pixels composing the high-gradation ranges are more at pixels continuous in the main scanning direction than at pixels continuous in the auxiliary scanning direction. |
