PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing a grain-oriented electrical steel sheet which does not cause occurrence of defects of shape in a steel sheet and achieves a low iron loss and reduction of the variation of the iron loss, compared with conventional steel sheets, by reducing the variation of the width of grooves to be formed, in forming linear grooves by etching.SOLUTION: A method of producing a grain-oriented electrical steel sheet comprises coating the surface of a steel sheet with a film of a masking agent, subjecting parts of the film corresponding to linear grooves or other parts to a modification treatment, removing the parts of the film corresponding to the linear grooves and forming linear grooves in the film-removed parts by etching on the surface of the steel sheet, in forming, repeatedly in the rolling direction of the steel sheet, linear grooves extending in the direction intersecting the rolling direction. |
