<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbon dioxide absorption liquid where the absorption rate and absorption capacity of carbon dioxide is large, carbon dioxide can be absorbed at a low carbon dioxide partial pressure and required energy in regeneration is small and to provide an absorption method and a separation method of carbon dioxide using the same.SOLUTION: The essential components of a carbon dioxide absorption liquid are an ion liquid having general formula expressed as (1): and water. In an absorption method, carbon dioxide is brought into contact with the absorption liquid and then carbon dioxide is absorbed. In a separation method, carbon dioxide is separated from the carbon dioxide absorption liquid by increasing a containing ratio of water to the ion liquid in the carbon dioxide absorption liquid.
