A faceplate assembly for ostomy pouch systems is provided. The faceplate assembly includes a reservoir for containing a sealing material for sealing or adhering around an outer wall of a stoma and mucocutaneous junction at the stoma base. The faceplate may also include a removable sealant holder, which is configured to expose the stoma sealing material when a user withdraws the sealant holder from the faceplate assembly. Further, the removable sealant holder may facilitate raising and sealing a recessed stoma.
