<p>A lowering system (10) for removing a pantograph (1) from an overhead line in the event of a collision, the pantograph (1) having an articulated arm (4) interconnected to a frame by a lifting means, and a current collector bow (8) mounted to the articulated arm (4) for contact with the overhead line, the lowering system including a lowering assembly (24) operably connected to the lifting means, the lowering assembly (24) being adapted for receiving fluid/gas from a source of fluid/gas, wherein when the lowering assembly receives an inflow of gas, the lowering assembly acts on the lifting means to initiate lowering of the articulated arm (4), a responder arm (105) adapted for mounting between the bow and a portion of the articulated arm (4) of the pantograph (1), the responder arm (105) including a source of high pressure fluid (22) interconnected to the lowering assembly (24), and a gas release assembly located adjacent the source of the high pressure fluid (22) and being interconnected to the bow (8), whereby the gas release assembly (18) is displaceable relative to the source of high pressure fluid (22) in response to sufficient displacement of the bow (8) by debris or the like to trigger release of gas under pressure, and wherein in an operating condition, high pressure fluid entering the lowering assembly (24) causes the lifting means to substantially simultaneously lower the articulated arm (4) away from the overhead line to substantially minimize excess damage to the overhead lines. us</p> |
