PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new partially hydrogenated copolymer satisfying application needs with a suitable saturation degree.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for selectively hydrogenating a block copolymer, which comprises: a step of preparing a polymer having at least one aromatic vinyl block and at least one conjugated diene block; and a step of hydrogenating the polymer in the presence of a heterogeneous catalyst to obtain a hydrogenated polymer. The heterogeneous catalyst is disposed on a carrier and the carrier is selected from the group consisting of BaSO, AlO, TiO, ZrO, activated carbon and an optional combination thereof. The hydrogenated polymer contains at least one hydrogenated aromatic vinyl block, the hydrogenated aromatic vinyl block has a carbon ring linked with the backbone of the hydrogenated polymer and the average weight percent of the vinyl aromatic blocks having only one and two double bonds on the carbon ring is between 1 to 30 wt.% of the total weight of the hydrogenated polymer. |
