1. A rail corner piece for use with a tonneau cover system mountable to a cargo area of a vehicle, said corner piece comprising:
a base member having a first insert portion and a second insert portion extending therefrom, wherein the first insert portion and the second insert portion define an angle; and a rigid, cantilevered male portion extending from the base member.
