<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separation membrane capable of stabilizing separation removal performance when a separation membrane element is operated by applying particularly-high pressure, and the separation membrane element.SOLUTION: A separation membrane element includes a separation membrane body that has at least a base material and a separation function layer, and a plurality of protrusions that are fixed to a permeation-side surface of the separation membrane body.
