PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel cord which can save enough surface outer rigidity of a tyre while suppressing weight increase.SOLUTION: A steel cord 1 consists of five steel core wires 2 and a steel wrapping wire 3. The core wire 2 has a pair of plane parts 2a and a pair of curved surface parts 2b, and its cross section is a flat shape. The core wires 2 are arranged in parallel so that the plane parts 2a face together without being twisted, and the parallel-arranged core wires 2 are bundled up by the wrapping wire 3. The steel cord 1 is buried in an automotive tyre (in a belt layer) while a longer axis direction of the core wire 2 faces for a vertical direction against external circumference surface (ground plane) of the automotive tyre.
