The subject invention provides a novel and advantageous strain of Pasteur 7 'a bacteria with nematicidal activity against Reniform nematodes. The subject invention provides the novel bacteria culture referred to as ATCC PTA-9643, and mutants thereof. Also provided are nematicidal compositions comprising the Pasteuria strain or its mutants or variants and methods for treating phytopathogenic and soil-dwelling nematodes.
