The invention comprises salts of 4-amino-5-imidazole carboxamide with pharmaceutically acceptable organic acids, and their preparation by reaction of the free base with an organic acid, or of an inorganic acid addition salt with a metal salt of an organic acid. The compounds of the invention have pharmaceutical activity against various liver diseases, oligozoospermia and neural disturbances arising from disorder of the cerebral vessels, and may be used in pharmaceutical compositions in combination with a carrier, for example in forms suitable for oral or parenteral administration, such as powders, tablets, ampoules and injectable solutions.
