A device, such as a HART multiplexer, may allow devices that communicate using the EtherNet/IP protocol or other protocols that support treating collections of data as objects to access one or more instruments. The devices may communicate with one or more object instances that each correspond to an instrument. These object instances may include data that corresponds to data that may be obtained from the underlying instrument. These object instances may be updated automatically, allowing requests for information in the object instances to be quickly fulfilled. |
