[Also in Division F2] A printing roller for textile, paper or plastics foil printing comprises a printing cylinder 2, a driving spindle 1 and a multi-cell inflatable jacket 3 which is inflated by a pressure medium to removably secure the cylinder on the spindle. In Fig. 2 the jacket 3 comprises inner annular sections A, B, C connected to the spindle 1 by engagement with longitudinal grooves in the spindle, by vulcanizing, or by clamping with clips, and annular tyre-like cell sections a, b, c frictionally engaging the cylinder 2. The spindle 1 comprises a hollow cylinder and shrunk-in axle journals 1a. The cylinder 2 may comprise a steel tube having a drawn bore and an electrolytically deposited copper surface. The jacket 3 is preferably fabricreinforced at 4. In Fig. 3 the jacket 3 engages circumferential grooves 6 in the spindle. The cells may be chess-board distributed, the cells alternating with squares attached to the spindle. Inflation is through a non-return valve 9, a central supply reservoir 8, and radial bores 7 in the spindle, a changeover device being preferably provided to permit evacuation of the reservoir 8 for drawing off the cylinder. |
