<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To elongate antibacterial activity and insect repelling performance, and to include only a metal complexing tropolones and/or phenols in a plant essential oil. <P>SOLUTION: Aqueous solution containing metal ion of a metal for metal-complexing tropolones and/or phenols is brought into contact with a plant essential oil by stirring, and then only a plant essential oil separated in an upper layer of the aqueous solution is collected.
