<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve transportation efficiency of a sheet used for a printer, a scanner, a printer or the like. <P>SOLUTION: The sheet transporting device includes: a feeding means for feeding sheets successively one by one to a sheet transporting path; a transporting means disposed at the downstream side of the feeding means for transporting sheets fed from the feeding means to the downstream side thereof; a detection means disposed in between the feeding means and the transporting means for detecting the sheet fed from the feeding means; a thickness detection means disposed in between the feeding means and the transporting means for detecting the thickness of the sheet fed from the feeding means; and a control means for controlling the feeding means and the transporting means. When the detection means detects the sheet, the control means executes stopping of feeding operation of the feeding means or deceleration control. The thickness of the sheet is detected by the thickness detection means. Based on the thickness detected, the transporting speed by the transporting means is determined, and then the control means executes the starting of feeding operation of the feeding means or controls acceleration. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT</p> |
