<p>Juices are extd. from the solid material of a prod. to be dried, such as the by-products of wine making; it can be recoveredd from the marc of grapes without trituration or tearing. Appts. comprises a framework to which a jack is attached; this has an external piston, integral with the piston rod of the jack, which is in the form of a trough. This presses the material to be dried into the primery drainage chamber. An endless screw is arranged inside the piston underneath the feed hopper. Means are provided for rotating the endless screw during the forward stroke of the piston so as to pass the prod. into the drainage chamber where it is compressed by the following forward stroke of the piston. The prod. next goes to a reduction chamber and then to the final drainage chamber. The juices are recovered in separate tanks from the two drainage chambers and are evacuated separately.</p> |
