<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition for a sidewall, capable of balancing low fuel consumption, breaking strength and processability at a high level, and capable of improving operation stability, and to provide a pneumatic tire using the rubber composition. <P>SOLUTION: The rubber composition for a sidewall comprises: a rubber component containing a butadiene rubber modified by a compound represented by formula (1) (wherein R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>and R<SP>3</SP>may be the same or different, and are alkyl, alkoxy, silyloxy, acetal, carboxyl, mercapto, or derivatives thereof; R<SP>4</SP>and R<SP>5</SP>may be the same or different, and are a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group; and n is an integer); and silica whose CTAB specific surface area is≥180 m<SP>2</SP>/g, and BET specific surface area is≥185 m<SP>2</SP>/g. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
