The invention relates to a seat device for the physically disabled, in particular a wheelchair or pushchair, comprising: a seat surface (27); a footrest (37) which can be pivoted towards the seat surface and is secured in the region of the centre of the front edge of the seat surface (27); and an abduction block (31) in the centre of the front edge of the seat surface. The object of the invention is to provide a wheelchair or similar seat device for the physically disabled wherein the system for securing the footrest ensures that the footrest can pivot about the physiological pivot points whilst having a simple construction. This object is achieved in that the footrest is articulated within the abduction wedge such that, when a person is seated in the seat device, the footrest pivot axis lies in the region of the pivot axis of the person's knees. |
