980,626. Light reflectors. MINNESOTA MINING & MANUFACTURING CO. March 29, 1961 [April 5, 1960], No. 15615/64. Divided out of 980,625. Drawings to Specification. Heading F4R. [Also in Division G2] A light reflector comprises an aluminium base supporting a light reflecting metallic film of a noble metal such as gold with the interposition of a layer of porcelain enamel of gloss finish which is bonded thereto. A thin film of a chromium or nickel containing bonding agent may be vapour coated on the enamel before the gold film is vapour-coated thereon. Alternatively the gold film may be vapour-coated directly on to the enamel and the reflector baked at a temperature slightly lower than the softening temperature of the enamel. The reflector may almost completely surround an elongated tubular lamp disposed at its focus, the reflector having a narrow exit slit for the radiant energy which is used to irradiate a graphic original and copy sheet in a copying machine as in Specification 980,625 [Division G2]. |
