<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle periphery monitoring device allowing for extremely easy grasping of the presence/absence and the position of a monitoring target detected from an image. <P>SOLUTION: A vehicle periphery monitoring device (10) comprises: a target detector (60) for detecting the monitoring target on the basis of a taken image (IL); a divided image region determination unit (62) which divides the taken image (IL) into predetermined plural divided image regions and determines which divided image region of the taken image (IL) includes the detected monitoring target; a first display controller (70) for displaying the taken image (IL) on a general-purpose display (26); and a second display controller (72) which displays a mark (100) in the divided display region of an MID (28) corresponding to the determined divided image region, thereby displaying the existence of the monitoring target.
