<p>The present invention discloses a method and an apparatus for paging. The method includes: obtaining indication information for indicating a paging range; determining, according to the indication information, a home base station (HNB) that can establish a local bearer with a local gateway (LGW) triggering paging; and sending a second paging message to the HNB, so that the HNB sends a third paging message to a user equipment (UE). The apparatus includes a home base station gateway (HNB GW), a home base station (HNB), and a Serving GPRS Support Node SGSN. According to the method and the apparatus for paging according to embodiments according to the present invention, a home base station that can establish a local bearer with a local gateway trigging paging can be determined by using indication information, and a paging message is sent to the determined home base station. This can prevent a home base station that does not support establishing a local bearer with the local gateway from sending a paging message to a user equipment, thereby decreasing paging messages between the home base station, the home base station gateway, and the user equipment, saving system overhead, and improving system efficiency.</p> |
