A combination lock, such as those found on a padlock 10, buckle or suitcase, wherein the combination arrays (dials, rings) 40a-e display a combination of letters and numbers, preferably more than one letter/number and most preferably the date, e.g. 01 JAN 14. Also claimed is a combination lock wherein the dials define dissimilar/different number of code options/positions, e.g. the first array has four options, the second ten options etc. A key lock may be provided to override the combination lock. When recoding the combination, a code set indicator may be exposed 90, the indicator displaying an image, symbol or word, e.g. SET. The indicator may be cylindrical and may extend out of the body of the lock. A method of recoding is defined such that when the lock is in the open condition the locking member, i.e. the shackle, is rotated preferably 90° or 180°, the locking member is then depressed and further rotated whilst depressed. This allows the locking arrangement of the arrays to be changed. |
